Case Study: TV Asahi

TV Asahi used MoPA-TV® to create a brand new show called "Number One Star Maniac – Quiz", which aired on June 15th, 2008, on televisions across Japan from the TV Asahi studio in Tokyo. With MoPA-TV’s innovative technology and computer generated graphics, TV Asahi chose to create a futuristic theme for the quiz show. The theme was carried throughout the program in the design of the 3D world, avatars and props. For example, a spaceship was featured that eliminated contestants who gave the wrong answers and hosts of the show wore futuristic costumes that followed the space theme.

The show achieved the highest viewer rating of 4.7 points at 1:08 am on June 15th during the second round of the program. The rating varied from between 4.7 points and 3.7 points during the entire show. On average, the show attracted 13.7% of the overall number of viewers for its time slot, compared to 2.7 points and 3.2 points for shows on other stations airing sports, news or TV dramas.
After the trial round, the first round of questions attracted 47,845 people to register and participate. By the end of the first round, a cumulative total of 70,028 responses had been received. Viewers showed a greater interest in the more challenging questions asked during the second round in which there were 163,395 cumulative responses in total.
